Singapore Books of Records's reply (CREATORS)

HI MAX & FRIENDS!

Previously we have mentioned in class about our event of breaking record using "can drinks" by forming logo/picture. GOOD NEWS! We've got the reply from Singapore Books of Records!!! Below are some information provided by them. We hope you guys will give us opinion on which of the 4 choice is more feasible. Moreover, we need 50 plus MANPOWER for this event. Please help us by participating in this event if this event is approved. THKS in advance!

We welcome you to set a record for your school. However the current records relating to drink cans are as follows:

1. Longest Can LineHome Nursing Foundation collected and formed the world’s longest lineof drink cans on 10 Feb 2007. 90,769 cans were lined up by over ahundred volunteers from ITE College West at Singapore Expo to form apattern with the words ‘We Can’. The line measured 6,009m. Theproject was sponsored by ComfortDelGro.

2. Largest Can MosaicThe Yew Tee Community Club YEC collected 101,616 used drink cans andlaid them out on the hard court outside the CC to form the map ofSingapore. They took several months to collect the drink cans and twoweekends to arrange them before the final cans were placed on 14 Dec2008.

3.Largest Sculpture Made Of Drink CansBAIK Singapore and *SCAPE built the largest sculpture using 7,083drink cans. The sculpture was displayed at the National Youth Centreon 3 Oct 2009.

4.Largest National Flag Made Of Drink CansStudents of Townsville Primary School and Fuhua Secondary Schoolformed the largest national flag using 8,500 cans on 12 Jul 2008 atthe hall of the former. They did it as part of MediaCorp’s televisionprogramme called The Records Challenge.

The first 2 records incorporate grahics and logos so we cannot start anew record calling it 'Largest Logo Made of Drink Cans' You arewelcome to break any of the 4 above mentioned records. However you mayalso like to note that for each of them, more than 50 people wereinvolved. It would be very challenging if there are only the 4 of youdoing it. Perhaps instead of drink cans you would like to considersomething else?

  1. This is very interesting. Please proceed to organise the event for NP students to take part in setting a new Guiness Record. Even if a new record is not being set, the learning experience in organisaing the event will be worth the while. GO AHEAD and try !! COURAGE !!
