From creators!

Hi guys...you all still remember our group, who want to break a Singapore record? haha.. now we bring you some updates.

we were plan to build a cans structure use the most cans. the last record is 7000+cans. We even made a picture modelling the finished structure and emailed it to Singapore book of records(SBR). here i show you the pic =)

HOWEVER, when we were about to start plan for doing this record, we heard a bad news from the SBR. They said we cannot do this record setting, because they have the policy that cannot break records which latest record setting is within 6 months! Since this record only be set around 2 month before, we cannot do this for our I&E =(

We got this news this thursday. On that meeting, we felt the difficulty and felt a little worry. But we soon decided to do another record breaking! Now we have come up with a new idea that we will make a biggest logo made by thumbprints. The topic we would like to choose is YOS. Here i post the email from SBR.

Hi Cynthia

Sure We welcome you to break this record:

Largest Poster Made Of Thumbprints. Students from Nanyang Technological University Hall of Residence 4 displayed the largest poster made of thumbprints, measuring 1.782m by 0.84m at Jurong Point Shopping Centre on 17 Aug 2008.

Of course the poster you want to do can feature the YOG logo. The thumprints will have to follow the logo's proportion and colours closely. Because of the intricacies of the wordings, you may have to do your record much bigger than the last one. We have no restrictions to the no of thumprints made by each person. After your poster is completed we will send our officials down to measure and verify the record. We will also make a certificate presentation to you for breaking the record. Our charges for this record will be $400 for a 2-hr attendance.

You may like to know that for YOG-related activities, funding is avavilable. To apply check out http://www.whyohgee.sg/whyohgee/can/singapore2010ycm

So now we will set up to do this event =)

wish your all the best for your events!

SuperFantastic: Just the other day…

Amanda here and I’m blogging in behalf of my group. (:
Last Friday, we went to help the Kindergarten for the second time.
It was the Kindergarten’s Actual Year End Concert.
All of them look really good, especially all the K2s that are graduating!
Anyhow, I randomly asked one of the kids whether he remembers me and he say he does! (happy happy!)

The whole event last about 4 hours and we were all so tired after the event.
Being a helper is not as simple as it is, especially when you got to handle kids!
They will run about like crazy and you need to chase after them.

Anyhow, tomorrow we’ll be meeting up with the Kindergarten’s Principal.
Hope everything will go well!
Once again, enjoy the pictures!

Our project discussion

This week, our group met online to have our project discussion. Since Max always emphasizes that our event has to be both innovative & enterprising, we have changed our project to a more innovative one.

Initially, our event is to have a Christmas celebration with the Bethel kids (low income family, single-parent family, etc). However, we came out with an idea of having the Bethel kids to create their own Christmas card and send their wishes to the less fortunate kids.

The purpose of this is to allow the children to care for and help the less fortunate children around them. For now, we are still waiting for the reply of the organization which will like to receive the cards.

Hope that we will get a reply soon so that we can progress further to sponsorship!

Hello!

I'm Yilin. It's already week 5 now, yet I only get to post on this blog this week! As I don't know why Max's invitation was sent straight away to my delete items instead of inbox.
About myself, I'm an Accountancy student, and I hope to pursue my studies in Singapore University after I graduate from Ngee Ann Poly. BUT I may not continue to study Accountancy because it's really BORING!

Hmm.. Perhaps I will update this blog again for my project.

Greetings from SuperFantastic

Hello everyone!
This week, my group did not meet up for discussion AT ALL.
In fact, we make a trip down to the Kindergarten and got to interact with the kids there!
Anyhow, the Kindergarten name is Creative Thinkers Kindergarten.
We want to take this opportunity to thanks Liubing as she was the one that introduce this Kindergarten to us. :)
Anyway, we went down to help them out for the rehearsal for their yearend concert.
I believe it was a great experience for us as we hardly interact with kids before!
It was quite tiring due to us sleeping so late the night before. :x
It was also our first time seeing how teachers actually get together and organized the yearend concert.
We are honored to be able to lend a helping hand to them!
The kids were really adorable but it gets tough when they are playful!

I shall stop typing words!
Enjoy the pictures! (:

Singapore Books of Records's reply (CREATORS)

HI MAX & FRIENDS!

Previously we have mentioned in class about our event of breaking record using "can drinks" by forming logo/picture. GOOD NEWS! We've got the reply from Singapore Books of Records!!! Below are some information provided by them. We hope you guys will give us opinion on which of the 4 choice is more feasible. Moreover, we need 50 plus MANPOWER for this event. Please help us by participating in this event if this event is approved. THKS in advance!

We welcome you to set a record for your school. However the current records relating to drink cans are as follows:

1. Longest Can LineHome Nursing Foundation collected and formed the world’s longest lineof drink cans on 10 Feb 2007. 90,769 cans were lined up by over ahundred volunteers from ITE College West at Singapore Expo to form apattern with the words ‘We Can’. The line measured 6,009m. Theproject was sponsored by ComfortDelGro.

2. Largest Can MosaicThe Yew Tee Community Club YEC collected 101,616 used drink cans andlaid them out on the hard court outside the CC to form the map ofSingapore. They took several months to collect the drink cans and twoweekends to arrange them before the final cans were placed on 14 Dec2008.

3.Largest Sculpture Made Of Drink CansBAIK Singapore and *SCAPE built the largest sculpture using 7,083drink cans. The sculpture was displayed at the National Youth Centreon 3 Oct 2009.

4.Largest National Flag Made Of Drink CansStudents of Townsville Primary School and Fuhua Secondary Schoolformed the largest national flag using 8,500 cans on 12 Jul 2008 atthe hall of the former. They did it as part of MediaCorp’s televisionprogramme called The Records Challenge.

The first 2 records incorporate grahics and logos so we cannot start anew record calling it 'Largest Logo Made of Drink Cans' You arewelcome to break any of the 4 above mentioned records. However you mayalso like to note that for each of them, more than 50 people wereinvolved. It would be very challenging if there are only the 4 of youdoing it. Perhaps instead of drink cans you would like to considersomething else?

SuperFantastic's event

HELLO ALL!

It’s Amanda here and I’m here to share our group event with you.
If everything goes as plan, our event will be bringing a group of childcare children to Vitagen Factory Tour.
I believe everyone drank Vitagen before right?
Vitagen is specially formulated for consumers who are health conscious and are concerned about their sugar intake.
Anyhow, we’re currently still thinking more ideas to be special and different from others.
So if any of you got any suggestions, do share it with us.

With loves,
Amanda

FROM CREATORS - SOME POINTS TO NOTE!

Hi Max & friends! This is CREATORS!

Sorry that the points in the proposal for 'Run-for-Charity" event is not very clear. Oops! We would like to emphasize that the Run event will be held around the school premises. (around school car park)

We will also raise fund by the collection of registration fees of approximately $5 per dollar from participants and each of them will bring home with goodies bag from sponsorship partner. (if we can secure one)

Yay, that's about our current plan. Feel free to comment peeps!

Cheers :)

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Hi we are from group 1. Creators!

Hi dear Mr Max and dear classmates,

We are group 1 "Creators". We have started our meetings and have generated a lot of ideas. Since we really want to organize an amazing event, we need your help to comment and give suggestions on our accepted ideas. Now we have three detailed ideas to choose from, so your view will be value for us to do the final decision =) Here we presented the detailed proposal of these three ideas.

The first idea is "RUN-FOR-CHARITY EVENT "
The second one is "Noah’s Ark Cares Tour"
The third one is "Sudoku competition"

RUN-FOR-CHARITY EVENT (Temporary title only)

Objectives

1. Firstly, we feel that as a student of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, we must play a part and contribute to the society. We would like to inculcate all our peers the importance of helping & reaching out to help the needy. We aim to help the less fortunate like the Disables People’s Association, Children Aid Society or even charitable institution, Community Chest (most preferred institution). Other than verbal concerns to the societies, we would like the students & lecturers of Ngee Ann Poly to participate in the Run-for-Charity event to help raise funds for this homes/institution.

2. Secondly, we must also emphasize that another objective of this run is to promote healthy lifestyle to NP’s staff and students. As a student ourselves, we hardly had time for exercise which lead us to an unhealthy mind and body. Therefore, we hope that with this event, the students/lecturers can understand the importance of exercising and have a habit of it.

Audience

Our targeted audience would be Ngee Ann’s students, as well as the staff/lecturers. We also welcome friends and family of staff to participate in this run.

Event Procedures

We would mount this Run-for-Charity Event between one of the day in week 11-13 (not confirm). Before the actual commence of this event, we will contact a few potential sponsorship (which we have yet contact them) regarding our plan & proposal. If sponsorship is approved from any organisation, we will proceed to Ngee Ann’s admin department to permit for the school premises as the run location. Furthermore, we will start making banners, leaflets and sending out mass emails to the staff and students of NP. Our team will then open a registration counter for those who are keen to participate in this run to join. Although there will be no winner for this event, our motive is to help out the needy. Hence, if we are able to secure any sponsorship, the participants will be given free goodies bag/gift. Besides that, once participants finish the targeted racing distance, our sponsorship will donate a certain amount of $$. This will also encourage all the participants.

Sponsorship Partners

Although we have yet secured sponsorship with any organisation, there are some organisations which we are keen to collaborate with. (100 PULS, NESTLE, FIREPRICE) (If this event is approved, we will start contacting the organisation)
Dear Max, our group has the contact & email address of charitable institution like Community Chest. If this is approved, we will proceed immediately. Thanks!

Noah’s Ark Cares Tour

Objectives

1. Fund-raise: provide opportunities for NP students help animals in Noah’s Ark Care center.
2. To raise awareness in participants regarding animal cruelty.
3. To educate people of the responsibility of keeping an animal before deciding whether they should purchase/adopt one. And give more information about the breeds, characteristics and behaviors of dogs.
4. Creates a chance for participants to know whether are they suitable to raise an animal and whether their home are a good living conditions for the animals. Information given will be helpful to interested animal lovers to understand more about dogs/cats.
For example, all dogs and cats are to be license and microchipped. And what are the approved dogs that could be kept in a HDB apartment etc.
Audience
NP Students and Tutors
Activities
Firstly, we plan to hold a fund raise for the animals over a duration of a week in collabration with Noah's Ark Cares if they permit.(http://www.noahsarkcares.com/) We will check out whether Noah's Ark Cares have their own products such as calendar, posters, note pad etc. If they have and are willing, we will sell it to school at a higher price as way to raise funds. If not, we will create some simple products such animals calendar for sale.
After which we will open up registration for students to join us together for a one-day trip to Noah's Ark. There will be talk by Noah's Ark animal professional and to let students have a experience of handling with the animals. The talk will explore on the topic of animal cruelty and provide valuable information on adopting animals, responsibilty of keeping animals, requirement for being able to raise an animal at a suitable and safe home and even provide them with an opportunity to get themselves deeper into the world of animals after this fruitful trip.

Sudoku competition (cooperate with university)

Objective

1. Organize a fun competition for students. Participants will be participating in forms of group and they will experience teamwork.
2. Give NP students a chance to gain more insight about one of the universities (NTU, NUS or SMU) in Singapore.

Audience

NP Students

Event

In this event, we would like to collaborate with one of the three universities (NTU, NUS or SMU) to provide us with the venue to hold the competition.

Participants are to form a term of 3 people. They will race against time to see how many Sudoku they can finish within 1 hour time limit.

All the participants will be break into 2 groups. Once all the participants have arrive at the university, they will be break into Group A and Group B.

Group A will proceed to the venue to take their Sudoku Challenge. In the meantime, we will invite a campus facilitator to bring Group B for a tour around the campus for 40 minutes, introducing the facilities of the campus. After that, they will have a break to get ready for their challenge.

After 1 hour, Group A would have finished their challenge. They will then proceed for the tour s for 40 minutes as well, and Group B will take their challenge. In the meantime, some of us will need to start marking the answers for Group A.

After an hour, Group B would have finished their challenge. All the participants will then gather to have refreshment. In the background, we will need to start marking the rest of the answers and tabulate the results. The best 3 terms the best individual scorer will win the prizes.

After that, there will be a speech given by the campus facilitator (if possible), followed by prize presentation. Everyone will be dismiss from there.

Hello! :D

XinTian here~
I'm from Accountancy and I disagree with Kendrick that numbers are horrid.
I love numbers and that's the reason why I took Accountancy :) BUT! I have lost interest in Accounts already cause the course is hell boring =X

I have no idea what else to write here :/

Anyway, I have NO interest in Events Management but I'll hope to have at the end of this module. Our group has come up with a very meaningful idea for this project and we hope it'll be a successful one! :D

The one about the MOE visitors ...

Hi folks, wrong info ... my MOE visitors will be joining us for class only on the 23 Nov 2009. But that doesn't mean that you can be late for my classes this coming Monday, okay ?!!

See you guys (and gals) ... have a swell weekend ...

Sincerely,
Your loving mentor *huggs + kisses*

Hey ya'll

Hey there, my name is kendrick and if you can remember, I was like a loudmouth during the first day of class. LOL.

Anyway, here are a few stuff that you should know about kendrick:

1) agrees with his best friend that numbers is just horrid...the bigger the worst...except when it comes to the numbers in his bank account then the bigger the better

2) is a clean and neat freak and a klutz

3) thinks that the person who invented the ice-cream and air-con is just brilliant

4) motto in life: food is forever

5) can't live without talking

6) thinks kicking a muddy ball around the field is overrated

7) likes funny people

8) thinks reading is good for you

9) feels chocolate is good for the soul

10) loves kids and wish that he could be one forever

11) secretly dreams of living in Disneyland forever after

12) is a loser for spelling (it's ture!)

And honestly I have no idea what I really want to achieve from this module yet.

But...I do want to have a fulfilling time and do/plan somthing that would bring some joy to people because sometimes when you meet someone's needs, you meet your own!

Anyway, that's all folks!

Au revoir.
